Some things never change

This came by way of an email. Don't know if the source is true, but if it is... wouldn't that be something?
The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.

Yup, the more things change . . . Sometimes I think we need such sweeping reform that, short of some major global disaster, it will never happen. We are too entrenched in serving our own needs and shutting out what's around us - I worry about MY family, MY job, MY kids, not the people halfway around the world. Fear and greed are big motivators. Compassion and mercy are far down the list. Justice and equality? Don't get me started.
